Metz, France

The drive to Metz was like any other drive, loads of traffic. Once I got to the city, to my surprise, the traffic was quite light. I ended up parking on a road called “Quai Paul Vautrin” across from Temple Neuf and against the Moselle river with an excellent view of the temple itself. Eglise du Saint-Sacrement can be seen from here as well. Lots of people can be seen walking along the river and near the temple taking pictures and/or walking with their friends or S/O. The reason I parked here was not only for the temple but for the Metz cathedral. It was an excellent choice of parking for the sightseeing of everything I wanted to see in Metz. When I got to the Metz cathedral, I was astonished by the breaking view of the cathedral. On the side there was a carving of Jesus Christ on the cross and other holy beings surrounded the church exterior. I was able to tour inside on my own and I expected nothing less. The church was larger on the inside than the outside it seemed. The shape of the church was a T. On the sides there were places of prayer/worship. On the windows there were stained glass windows of different rulers. Closer inside there was an organ along with the altar for a place of worship. I would say more but I don’t want to spoil the rest of the church for you! This is definitely a see for yourself type of place.

I walked over to the “Porte des Allemands”. This is the largest surviving building on the medieval ramparts. It overlooks one of the many rivers that run through the city. When you walk through the main gate you will notice two large towers overlooking you. There is a small door with a staircase that leads straight to the ramparts that overlooks part of the city. In terms of views, there just was not any unfortunately.

After the ramparts, I started to walk back to my car towards the cathedral again. I happened to pass by a corner cafe called “Corner coffee” and I was served the bleu cheese burger (I know I am gross for this ;) but that okay it was delicious none the less). I was also served a cup of orange juice with my choice of fresh squeezed or already juiced. Of course I went with fresh squeezed because who doesn’t like fresh squeezed fruits?

I ended my day with sightseeing the “Temple Neuf”, which is a protestant church surrounded by the Moselle.

My favorite part of the trip had to be the cathedral because I have always held an interest in old architecture. The trip only took me about an hour and a half in total based on where I live and other than the traffic, it was an amazing little trip I did. Thank you for taking the time to read my review and now that you’re done, enjoy the pictures!
