~ Mt. Leconte, North Carolina ~
From the start to grotto falls, it was pretty easy and there were plenty of streams to grab water from. However, when you go past grotto falls the water gets a little more scarce so make sure you fill up if you’re a heavy drinker. The entire way up to Mount LeConte was straight uphill so if you’re not looking forward to a long uphill hike maybe it isn’t for you. At the summit it was pretty cold. I ended up camping at the LeConte shelter. At the shelter it was about 60 degrees and then in the morning, it felt like 30-40 degrees so definitely bring hats and gloves and a coat! Altogether it was a great hike and I’d definitely do it again. Highly recommend cliff tops while you’re up there!
